Most of George's   500 Mediterranean-style recipes take 7 minutes or less to prepare and his Healthiest Way of Cooking methods are not only quick and easy, but also preserve the maximum number of nutrients and makes food taste great.

 

The recipes in the book feature the World's Healthiest Foods, nutrient-rich foods that contain the maximum number of nutrients for the least number of calories, which are also great for healthy weight loss.

 

                          George spent 25 years developing these 15 minute recipes

 

George has had a life-long love affair with food. In the 1970's, George founded Health Valley Foods and was a pioneer in the consumer health food movement. As the president of Health Valley for more than 25 years, he created convenient, healthy foods made from organically grown ingredients, free from pesticides and chemicals; the company still remains the gold standard for health food.

 

George's continuing passion for food sent him to the ends of the earth to study the nutritional benefits of health-promoting foods. He has traveled to over 80 countries, and experienced cuisines from many cultures renowned for their health and longevity. George has studied cuisine at some of the world's most renowned institutions including France's La Varenne, Italy's Guiliano Bugialli's Cooking School, and Gourmet's Oxford in England.

 

I really want to meet George. We both study cuisine from a different point of view. I go to food and wine festivals and taste the best of the world's best chefs. Most of them are high on the cholesterol and glycemic index. Pritikin would have a heart attack just reading about what I eat.

I also went on a tour of the Chianti area of Italy with Guliano Bugialli. We drank red wine and the hosts poured olive oil on top of everything. It was healthy. It was delicious. But why did all my waistbands feel so tight at the end of the trip?

Last time I was in Hawaii, George invited me to his house in Hawaii for a healthy lunch. I was in Hawaii to judge the Kona Chocolate Festival on the Big Island and it seemed like kind of an oxymoron to leave one island after a weekend of chocolate to eat no fat meals. Maybe it was what I needed. Or maybe I wasn't ready yet.
